Inside Out Dorset, Commission artists announced

Activate Performing Arts who present Inside Out Dorset Festival are pleased to announce the artists selected for Inside Out Dorset Ridgeway Responses Commissions as part of Inside Out Dorset 2014 and the South Dorset Ridgeway Landscape Partnership.

Activate received over 60 applications for proposals to commission  interpretive, site specific or site responsive temporary installation artworks and performances in the area around the South Dorset Ridgeway.

Kate Wood, Activate's Executive Director said 'We were very pleased with the amount of interest and had so many interesting proposals.  After a lot of deliberation, nine artists or specific companies have been chosen:

Francis Aitkin - Bill Aitcheson – Gobbledegook - Hazel Evans - And Now - Sarah Butterworth - Art Music - Adrian Newton - Emma Williams

We are also in discussion with another project that may become an associated event'

The commissions include a wide range of art forms including outdoor performance, sound, music, writing, multimedia and live art. The final event will take place in September 2014 as part of our festival of extraordinary events in extraordinary places.

Kate also added ‘We are delighted with the artists that have been selected and are now working on the next stage of inviting them down into the landscape to start the making process’

Activate produces, promotes and develops dance, theatre and outdoor arts across Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole
