Alex Needham

I have lived in Bristol for most of my life and have been acting since I was 13.

I have performed in numerous plays in Bristol and Bath including Journey's End, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Macbeth and two pieces of new writing produced at the Brewery, entitled The Self Help Group and Kurt Cobain's in my Cupboard and I have directed Road for Rondo Theatre Company (Bath) and Brimstone and Treacle for Kelvin Players Theatre Company (Bristol).

I am always looking for a challenge and love performing heroic/romantic roles as much as I love performing the roles usually offered to me(villain/lunatic/a**hole). I enjoy directing as much as I do acting and am looking to gain a lot more experience in that field.

I am pleased to say that 'Brimstone and Treacle' has just won Best Dramatic Production at the 2010 Rosebowl Awards and has whetted my appetite for future directing challenges.

Key Projects

The Self Help Group/ Kurt Cobain's in my Cupboard

Two pieces of new writing performed as a double header. i played 'Man' and 'Kurt Cobain'. the first a very nice but disturbing cameo and the second more of a character study.

'Present Laughter' by Noel Coward

Noel Coward play about the aging actor Gary Essendine and the various mishaps that befall him before he leaves England to tour in South Africa. Due to His inability to say 'no' to a pretty face, Gary causes most of the trouble that his long-suffering friends and servants have to sort out.
