Artist and Producer Support and Development

In order to offer you the most useful advice, and to best inform our wider work across the sector, our Artist Support programme is built around getting to know you and your work.

What is it?

Artist Support is delivered by practicing industry professionals who respond to where you're at and what you're about. Through a mix of face to face meetings and other correspondence, members of Theatre Bristol's experienced team can offer advice on the art and the business, helping with areas such as:

  • developing clear and compelling artistic ideas
  • writing budgets and funding applications
  • finding collaborators and partners
  • planning and booking a tour
  • talking and writing about, and marketing your work
  • signposting contacts and opportunities

Your contact with Theatre Bristol can range from being a one-off to something more structured; whatever is most useful whilst balancing your needs and our resources.

We also offer 6-month placements for Associate Producers, where independent producers receive desk space, dedicated mentoring and access to the TB hivemind. They can engage with as much or as little of the internal workings of TB as they want, from team meetings to strategy sessions. Our aim is to provide them with a short-cut to knowledge and networks, and to combat some of the isolation that independent workers often experience. Read more on our Associate Producers and Projects page.

Dedicated, long-term support for artists is a key concern. Have a look at our Associate Producers and Projects page for our current initiatives.

Help Us Keep This Site

We need your help. We want to maintain this site for the 20,000 people who use it each month, but the technology it is built on needs serious updating. If you use the site please support us with a £3 donation, or whatever you feel able to give, so we can develop it and keep it a free and valuable resource for people who make and love theatre.

You can also give to us without costing you a penny by signing up to Easy Fundraising, so when you shop online from over 2500 retailers Theatre Bristol will receive a donation.
