Arts Council England South West, Bristol City Council and Dance South West, have been collaborating over several months to develop a range of initiatives and opportunities to foster dance throughout the city, which will raise the profile of dance, create opportunities to take part and facilitate new partnerships between artists and venues.
Bristol Dance development was convened in April 2008 ( formerly the Steering Group) to drive forward progress and development of Dance in the city. It represents the interests of funders and key stakeholders. Its function is to ensure opportunities are enabled, brokered and progressed.

Bristol Dance Development(BDD)is just one of many ways in which dance will continue to flourish in Bristol. It recognises that there are many other constituencies, organisations and artists who are taking dance plans forward and ensuring that dance continues to be included into programmes and new opportunities are developed.

BDD recognises the need for information gathering, so opportunities that are developed can be accessed. It aims to offer ways to access existing or new networks and individual artists who are promoting activity or provide information where people can participate in dance accross the city.
