I am currently developing my solo practice with a dance piece 'Echo Beach' which scratched at The Bike Shed Theatre, Exeter in Nov 2012.
Taking you through the steps for a serenade, a woman sings a marvin gaye classic to a panda, opening up her arms and risking rejection.
Inspired by the crude writing of Charles Bukowski and his chain smoking slow speaking persona, this is a small character piece developed out of writing down dreams and the set-up of a poetry reading.
An experiment into the visualization of text in performance, using cardboard signs and blackboards, this piece is part improvised and part structured game to a western soundtrack.
An autobiographical dance solo beginning with a story about Millennium and my parents dancing - I was 12, my brother was 6 and we went to the cricket club. I am interested in the uniqueness of individual dancing, of social dancing. Moving from telling a story to just re-living it to a sound track by Martha and the Muffins, featuring the international hit 'Echo Beach'.
A community focused exhibition and performance venue with a rolling programme of inventive and diverse events. The Parlour Showrooms was set up as part of the Capacity Bristol scheme, and is now run by The Showrooms Projects ltd - Hannah Sullivan, Martha King and Alice Tatton-Brown.
