IronClad began at the Oxford School of Drama when Daisy, in the guise of a not-so-elegant deer, accidentally concussed Joseph in the middle of doing his very best jaguar impression (don’t ask). Having graduated from the school in 2011 they began working together on an untitled project (now known as ‘Cuddles’) and, in 2012 – IronClad Theatre Company was forged in the joint furnace of London and Bristol.

We are inspired by the idea that all valuable work tells great stories centred around a universal human truth – something that is ‘iron-clad’. We believe in the power of stories, whether they were written yesterday or three thousand years ago, and that a good story can bridge any cultural or historical boundary – our job is to tell them the right way.

Great stories are universal – great plays are unique.
