Jo Hellier is a Bristol based artist who works with performance, video and audio to create work that engages with the culture, people and places she is surrounded by. Her work takes a surreal stance to examine humanity and the everyday and explores what can be demonstrated about humanity through the lens of surrealism. She studied Devised Theatre at Dartington and after graduating formed the performance company BOOKHOUSE BOYS who completed residencies in London, Falmouth, Lisbon and Oslo last year. Jo is an associate artist of Falmouth University and guest lectured on their BA Theatre course as well as the Advanced Theatre Practice MA at Central School of Speech and Drama last year. She has recently come back from a three month research project in Mexico, where she did a video project and performed with BOOKHOUSE BOYS.
