Hammerpuzzle Theatre Company in co-production with the Everyman Theatre Cheltenham

Tales from Hans Christian Andersen

A Gloucestershire Midwinter

We are looking to cast 3 actors to perform in two new ensemble adaptations for this year’s Christmas season at the Everyman Studio and a short January tour. All 3 actors will perform in both productions.

Production 1 – Tales from Hans Christian Andersen

Join our travelling storytellers as they bring to life stories from the father of fairytales; Hans Christian Andersen. Full to the brim with spoken word, song, puppetry and more; families and little storytellers will experience tales such as Thumbelina, The Princess and the Pea and The Ugly Duckling.

Production 2 – A Gloucestershire Midwinter

As the river freezes over and snow lands in drifts, we delve back into the past of a Gloucestershire family and their winter memories, from 'Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening' to the Tale of Oxbode Lane, from Holst's 'Bleak Mid Winter' to a mummers play from South Cerney.

Celebrate and reflect on the festive season past and present with this theatrical presentation of literature, poetry, music and song, all from the local area of Cheltenham and Gloucestershire.

We are looking for the following:

2 Male and 1 Female actor/musicians. The nature of the work will be ensemble based with multi role and choral work; therefore applicants must have strong ensemble storytelling skills. Applicants must be confident singers, prepared to work in rep; with any other musical skills an additional advantage.

Please specify in your application which instruments you play or if you have any additional musical skills.

Both organisations advocate integrated casting and are actively encouraging applications from a diverse range of actors.

This is a co-production with the Everyman Theatre, Cheltenham.

The show has been written and composed with original music by Tamsin Kennard, is being produced by Lizzy Cummins and the productions will be directed by our Associate Director Bryn Holding and Everyman Creative Director Paul Milton.
