POSITION AVAILABLE FROM:July 2012 to July 2013
REPORTING TO:Fiona Ingram, Head of Open Access Programme
LOCATION:Stratford-upon-Avon, Full Time
Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: To deliver and develop a rich and exciting programme of work for students ( 5-19 yrs) in the formal education sector inspired by the RSC repertoire. To design a programme of workshops, conferences and events for school students that deepens their knowledge and understanding of his playsTo ensure the schools programme is inspired by, and responds to, the plays in the RSC’s repertoire, including non Shakespeare plays when appropriate To design a programme that responds to the educational needs of students studying Shakespeare’s plays.

SKILLS REQUIRED:  Experience of leading drama workshopsSubstantial knowledge of theatre practice and its place and value in young people’s learningConsiderable knowledge of the UK’s education infrastructureAbility to create imaginative programmes of work that inspired by the RSC’s artistic programme and practiceUnderstanding of how to work with actors, directors and creative teams and elicit appropriate and effective contributions to the programme from them.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:  Experience as a theatre practitioner with the ability to lead workshops as necessary.Significant experience of working with Shakespeare’s text and language with young people.
