We are members of an emerging group called Lifeboat which we have formed after touring and performing with other companies for the last 5 years. As a group we are interested in physical storytelling and using circus as a highly accessible way of reaching an audience in an outdoor setting. The core team (Alan Conlon, Alex Hofgartner, Alice Ellerby and Becky Illsley) all trained together in physical theatre at Circomedia as well as specialising in Aerial, Acrobatics or Juggling. We have since worked with companies including NoFit State, Bash Street Theatre and Cirque Bijou among others.
We are delighted to announce that Wild Rumpus and The Invisible Circus are supporting us in the creation of our show with two week week long residencies at their venues in July 2015.
The Whirligig Forge will be very exciting, campng out in the woods of the Rode Hall Estate, we’ll be able to get a real feel for how the show works outdoors and benefit from the experience of Wild Rumpus. Our week at Unit 15 with the Invisible Circus will give us a great opportunity to polish the show and get ready for our performance at the Blysh Festival in Cardiff in August 2015.
