The National Theatre to offer guidance to Bristol Old Vic and one other regional theatre in a pilot scheme designed to “unlock local philanthropy”
Bristol Old Vic has been awarded £5.3 million by Arts Council England to help fund the long-planned refurbishment of the Theatre Royal.
To mark their arrival, Bristol Old Vic’s new Artistic and Executive Directors Tom Morris and Emma Stenning have created Bristol Jam - the UK’s first festival of improvised performance, an audacious and playful melting pot of spontaneity for audiences of all ages.
Bristol’s love of improvised jazz is famous but Bristol Old Vic takes this further, throwing open its doors to a maverick week of improvised performance in all forms; from classical drama, comedy and storytelling to music, beatbox and film. From the 16 – 24 October, artists at the top of their game will bring extraordinary work to every corner of Bristol Old Vic, created on the spur of the moment.
