I am a film director from the states based in Bath, UK. My background has been in directing narrative shorts and documentaries and I am looking for a script to make the next step into my first feature.
I am looking for a script that is financially minimalist but dramatically engaging. I believe that with the right script, quality cast and blood sweat and tears of a small cast we might be able to make something emotionally engaging, entertaining and who knows maybe even thought provoking... The ideal release for this film would be featured in SXSW festival with a VOD release.
Below are some guidelines that match my time and budgetary restrictions, but if you have a script you thinks meets most of them I am still willing to read it. I would also be up for commissioning someone to write the script from a good one sheet, but they would need to write fast.
What can I offer in return? The opportunity to have your script turned into a film, imdb credit and some form of contracted profit share if in the unlikely case the film is sold. As a director and audience member I like family dramas (Jeff, Who Lives at Home and Blue Valentine), issues around military life (not so much war films [Tigerland, Born on the 4th of July]) and mumblecore relationship films (The Puffy Chair and Frances Ha). I am interested in characters finding out Who they are, Where do they fit in this world and What is the cost of loving others?
my showreel: https://vimeo.com/139332158
Time: 75-90 pages (minutes) max.
Genre: I am happy with mixed genre but ideal script would be rooted in drama.
Characters: 4 max and but two should be supporting characters with no more than a combined screen time of 30 minutes.
Locations: Ideally two location max, but as long as there are not more than five it can work.
Setting: I am looking to set it in modern day, and shoot it in a fifty mile radius of Bath. I am willing to accept challenges though, maybe the script is a love story set in a post apocalyptic bunker, maybe 15 minutes is suppose to be set on the interior of a log cabin.
Deadline: I am looking at shooting over weekends starting August so I would need to have a near ready script 1st July.
Improv: I like to work with actors on scenes and create a safe place to build on material so improvisation will be included in this project.
