Expired: Casting Call for Shakespeare's The Tempest

Calum Anderson - Tea-Powered Theatre

Cost: N/A

Live Dates: 4.6.17

Tea Powered Theatre is casting their next in-house production: William Shakespeare's The Tempest.

Part physical theatre, part musical, part technological marvel from the mid-'90's, our retro-futurist production will tell the tale of a team of astronauts stranded on an unfamiliar planet by a half-mad wizard hell-bent on revenge for past sins.
Influenced by retro sci-fi, second-gen console video games, modern tech-paranoia and David Bowie, we plan to devise a bombastic play about adventure, retribution, repentance and putting the bloody screen down for five minutes

Casting the following roles:

Adrian, a lord
Alonso, king of Naples
Antonio, duke of Milan and Prospero’s brother
Ariel, an airy spirit
Caliban, a savage and deformed slave
Ferdinand, son to the King of Naples
Francisco, a lord
Gonzalo, an honest old counsellor
Miranda, daughter to Prospero
Prospero, the rightful Duke of Milan
Sebastian, the King's brother
Stephano, a drunken butler
Trinculo, a jester
Various spirits/musicians

Plenty of ensemble work and pretentious artsy bits. Will include some multi-rolling and minor additional parts. There will be a sizeable devising/experimentation/rehearsal period as we play with video technology, extension cables and household appliances. This will be an open workshop-style audition taking place on 4th of June at The Bristol Bierkeller
Experience with physical theatre, dance and music preferred. All ages and genders welcome. There will be two runs of this production, the first a weekend long run as a Teatre in late August(post-Edinburgh) and another four-day run at Bierkeller Theatre early September. This is a profit share production with one unpaid performance.
