Expired: Volunteer with Travelling Light Youth Theatre

Travelling Light - Travelling Light Theatre Company

Callout for Volunteers to support Young People through Travelling Light's Youth Theatre

About Travelling Light:

Travelling Light makes professional high quality theatre for and with young people. We run weekly youth theatre groups, and work in educational settings with young people aged 0-25, including two groups for people with additional needs. Our groups provide a safe space where participants can be themselves, meet new people, try out ideas and learn skills in drama. All our groups devise their own work around a theme. With all groups we work towards informal sharing performances at the end of each term, as well as a larger scale annual Showcase performance.

We are looking for people with an enthusiasm for the arts and young people to help out with our weekly groups, supporting our Participation Team of Lead Practitioners and Assistants. All members of Travelling Light’s Participation Team are invaluable in ensuring every participant has a high quality, safe experience with us every week.

What does a Participation Volunteer do?

The volunteer will come and support weekly youth theatre groups for ages 4-25. You will be supporting the Lead Practitioner and Assistant during sessions by participating in activities with the young people and offering guidance to participants. Volunteers may also ask for support and guidance from Facilitators or Assistants throughout projects, enhancing their experience and knowledge of working with young people. Volunteers will set goals and have a review with their line manager before and after the project.

Our Volunteers will:

  • Have an interest in working with young people
  • Be passionate about theatre and creative arts
  • Be a creative
  • Be team players

What will I get out of it?

  • Experience of working with a diverse range of young people of mixed ages and abilities
  • Experience working towards a production with a professional creative team
  • Support from Travelling Light’s Youth Theatre Coordinator
  • A full induction in Child Protection and Safeguarding, as well as other training opportunities as and when they arise
