Part Exchange Co

Part Exchange Co officially launched its activities in Plymouth in 2008 with the Hidden City Festival, an arts and heritage festival that brought artists and writers together in new collaborations with extraordinary spaces and places that had long been forgotten or hidden away. www.hiddencityfestival.org.uk

Each space had amazing forgotten history or/and incredible architectural merit and the work forged relationships with communities connected to the sites and brought their stories and memories into the equation creating a totally unique programme of 21 new peices of work taking place in 11 venues across the city.

The company has continued to bring this site . artist . community approach forwards into its work including in its large scale city centre drive-in event, Drive in Deco in 2011. www.hiddencity.org.uk

The performances brought to life an old, forgotten art deco car showroom in a multi-media event that included live radio broadcast, live music, dance, theatre, digital animation and film. The event was the centre peice for 10 days of talks, walks, performances, workshops and an exhibition, all focused on experiencing the area in which the building was situated in a new light.

The company moved to Bristol in 2012 and most recently recieved funding from the Arts Council grants for the arts scheme for its Engine House project, a 2 year r&d engine that will be developing 6 seed ideas forwards, all bringing writers and artists together in new collaborations around ideas that matter and sharing the learning from these collaborative processes via its website www.theengine house.org.uk.
