This organisation aims to stimulate and support contemporary visual arts practice, and provides a network for UK artists and arts professionals. Its helpful website provides a wealth of resouces, such as a knowledge bank, details on arts opportunities and organisations, and an online magazine.

Live Art Development Agency
The Live Art Development Agency offers a portfolio of Resources, Professional Development Schemes, and Projects and Initiatives for the support and development of Live Art practices and discourses in London, the UK and internationally. The Agency is committed to working strategically, in partnership, and in consultation with artists and organisations in the cultural sector.

Arts & Business
A widespread creative network which helps establish links between business and the arts. The organisation runs programmes and initiatives, as well as providing useful services such as training mentoring and resource libraries.

Arts & Kids
Arts & Kids works with business to enable children to experience the arts. Its aim is to enable one million kids to engage with the arts by 2008, and seeks to build high quality, long-term relationships between businesses and the arts which will benefit both parties. It is not a funding body but helps to encourage funding by other organisations.

A comprehensive online register of arts consultants, this resource offers a quick and easy way to locate individuals who can help advise you on fundraising, design, architecture, refurbishment, lottery bid preparation and more. The service is free to use and allows you to search by skill, name and geographical area.

ArtsMatrix
A creative network which aims to help develop creative individuals. ArtsMatrix provides advice and guidance on skills development, as well as information on resources and events, workshops, conferences, mentoring schemes and more.

Artsadmin
Artsadmin offers a management service and national resource for artists involved in new theatre, dance, music, live art and mixed media work. It helps artists establish partnerships with producers, promoters and relevant arts organisations in Britain and abroad.

Artswork
Artswork is an independent youth arts development ageny committed to developing creative opportunities for young people aged 12-25. It provides a support structure of training and development, as well as producing helpful publications and a dedicated youth arts magazine, Upstart.

Asian Arts Agency
Dedicated to raising the profile of Asian arts in the Bristol area, the Asian Arts Agency helps promote performances and events, supports emerging artists and facilitates the development of various projects within the community.

British Arts Festivals Association
The meeting point of arts festivals in the UK, providing information and a professional network for the festivals movement. Online resources include a festival calendar and an A-Z listing of festivals.

Circus Arts Forum
Circus Arts promotes and supports individuals involved in all areas of the art form, and aims to raise the profile of circus as a cultural activity through advocacy and research. The website offers information on industry news, conferences, training and funding.

Creative & Cultural Skills
Creative & Cultural skills is the Sector Skills Council for advertisting, crafts, cultural heritage, design, music, performing, literary and visual arts. It is an industry led organisation promising to have real influence over the supply of education and skills across the UK.

Creative Learning Agency
The CLA provides a comprehensive information source for local arts-in-education, serving artists working in Bath & North Somerset, Bristol. North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.

Creative Partnerships
Creative Partnerships aims to help school children across England to develop creativity in learning. It is not a funding body but helps to establish a range of collaborative projects.

Creative People
Creative People is a national network providing information, advice and guidance for individuals who work in the arts. The website includes information about workshops, conferences, jobs, commissions and courses.

Department of Culture, Media and Sport
The Government Departmnent which aims to improve the quality of life for all through cultural and sporting activities and to support the pursuit of excellence and to champion the tourism, creative and leisure industries.

EQ
EQ is a national equality and diversity agency working in the creative industries. It concentrates on opening up these industries and helping individuals from all walks of life build careers within the arts sector.

Independent Street Arts Network
ISAN is an independent group of presenters and promoters of street arts throughout the UK working to develop the art form through networking, information sharing, collaboration, lobbying, training and advocacy.

Independent Theatre Council (ITC)
Established in 1974, the ITC has over 600 members across the performing arts, in fields including drama, physical theatre, circus, mime and puppetry. The ITC’s statement of purpose is “good art thrives on good management”. The website features useful information on training, legal, financial and copyright issues, and details on how to join the network.

International Theatre Crossroads
The ITCR and its annual programme aims to promote an exchange of, and an appreciation for the diversity of contemporary theatre across Europe. It offers a platform for high quality training and experimentation of contemporary theatre practices with particular focus on physical theatre.

John Good Printers
John Good is the specialist design house and printer for theatres, arts organisations and the entertainment industry. It designs and prints over four million theatre programmes and souvenir brochures and over 16 million posters, flyers and leaflets each year, serving hundreds of customers in the West End and throughout the UK.

Live Art UK
Live Art UK brings together key promoters and facilitators to support and develop the Live Art infrastructure for the benefit of artists and audiences. The Live Art UK network explores new models and partnerships for the promotion of Live Art; develops new ways to increase the national and international visibility of Live Art; and initiates strategies for a more sustainable future for Live Art practitioners and promoters. Projects include critical writing initiatives, touring commissions, and networking events. Live Art UK aims to provide a representative voice for the Live Art sector in the UK and act as a point of contact for promoters wishing to engage with Live Art in the UK.

National Association of Youth Theatres
The flagship organisation for youth theatre practice in England, NAYT offers support for youth theatre groups or individuals through training, advocacy and participation programmes.

National Council for Drama Training
A partnership of employers in theatre, broadcast and media industries, which aims to champion the drama industry and optimise support for professional drama training and education.

National Drama
National Drama is a network for professionals involved in drama education throughout the UK. It offers members a range of resources, such as reduced prices for regional and national conferences, and information on developments in educational policy.

New Work Network
An artist and sector-led organisation that brings together artists, producers, promoters, venues, critics and other practitioners to develop live art, contemporary performance and interdisciplinary practice.

Scenography
Scenography, the Theatre Design Website, is run by a non-profit organisation that offers theatre designers, scenographers, theatre arts professionals and higher education students free online portfolios to display their work, as well as a wealth of information on becoming a theatre designer. Technical articles and up-to-date news items also feature.

Society of Teachers of Speech & Drama
An international organisation which aims to bring together students and teachers of speech and drama, and promote the study and knowledge of speech and dramatic art in every form.

South West of England Regional Development Agency
This agency was established in 1999 to ensure the long-term economic success of the region. It aims to make sure the region has the right skills among its workforce, the most innovative businesses, and a high quality environment, both physical and cultural. Its Creative Industries business sector encompasses the Performing Arts and works to increase sustainability, growth and productivity through improved communications and partnerships.

Stage Management Association
The Stage Management Association, formed in 1954, exists to support and represent those engaged in stage management and related work in the UK.

TMA
TMA (Theatrical Management Association) is a UK-wide organisation dedicated to providing a professional support network for the performing arts industry. Its members include repertory and producing theatres, arts centres and touring venues, major national companies and independent producers, opera and dance companies and associated individuals and businesses.

The Hub
The Hub is a dynamic arts development practice which seeks to promote new thinking in the arts and supports artists to reach their potential. The website features information about The Hub’s good range of training courses – aimed at both individuals and organisations – as well as relevant events, festivals and conferences and seminars.

The Society of British Theatre Designers
This society seeks to connect individuals working in theatre design, both on a national and international level. The website features a useful ‘designers’ register’ where members can add their professional details and examples of work. Information about forthcoming events and training opportunities is also featured.

Total Theatre Network
Total Theatre Network is the UK’s lead body for physical and visual performance, embracing circus performance, dance theatre, mime, mask, puppetry and street theatre. Members can put their professional details on an artist directory, while non-members can access information and view noticeboards and listings.

Writernet
Writernet aims to provide dramatic writers with the tools they need to build careers within the arts. The website offers a healthy networking and information resource, which uses the Internet to support dramatic writers and those who work with them. It is used by writers working in theatre, TV, radio, film, live art and performance poetry.

This props, set design and costume/puppet-making organisation is based in Berkshire but available for work nationwide. It offers contract or freelance work covering all types of prop making (including replica, mechanical and weaponry), set design and building for film, TV and theatre, puppet making (string, marionette and mechanical) and costume making (creature, puppet, armoury, period and historical).
