Richard Hughes

I work as an Artist/Musician in education, most recently as Artist In Residence in a nursery school where I offer creative provocation and support, encourage and extend children's explorations.

I am working on a project looking how creative process and narratives can support aspects of speech and language, with a particular focus with boys, especially those who have English as an adittional language.

I play the accordion and tuba, performing solo and with various ensembles.

I recently performed in a procession from Truro to Battersea Arts Centre and performed for Wildworks in "100, The Day Our World Changed" at the Lost Gardens of Heligan.

I performed and wrote the music for "The Tragic and Disturbing Tale of Little Lupin", I have co-run a cabaret event, Kazaam, writing music for the house band.

OHM music review for Little Lupin -

“The highlight of the night is the musical score, which has been devised by cast member Richard Hughes; he provides accompaniment using a variety of instruments, including an accordion, tuba and even two pairs of scissors.
This, combined with strong performances from the rest of the performers – who all demonstrate an excellent level of comic timing – make this production watchable. "
