Theatre Bristol want to make sure everyone (artists, audiences, directors, students, technicians, designers, stage managers, in fact anyone with an interest in theatre) knows about the Devoted and Disgruntled Roadshow which is coming to Bristol the weekend of 30th June/1st July.
What is Devoted and Disgruntled?
D&Ds are a series of meetings for people passionate about live performance, facilitated by Improbable Theatre using Open Space Technology. The first event took place in 2005 and since then there has been an annual D&D and satellite events through the rest of the year.
“(it) was born out of frustration. I was frustrated both with theatre and with myself. I knew things could be better in theatre and I also knew the way I responded to that situation could be more creative. I wanted to stop moaning and actually do something about it.” Phelim McDermott
Open Space is an interactive and inclusive way of structuring a meeting that allows the participant to set the agenda. It gives everyone the chance to propose a starting point for discussion, take part in any of the conversations or flit between them all.
Since that first meeting a D&D community has developed of people taking responsibility to make things better instead of just complaining about them. This is your chance to join that community.
As part of the London 2012 Festival Devoted and Disgruntled is going on a 12 week roadshow, the biggest nationwide conversation about the future of live performance there has been. And you are invited.
So if you care about theatre then go. It’s your event. It’s a chance to talk about what you feel needs to be talked about. It’s being hosted by the Tobacco Factory Theatre in Bristol, it’s free, there will be tea and biscuits, and to sign up you just click here.
