The Bierkeller Theatre is located in the Bristol Bierkeller, which is proven to be a highly flexible space, able to accommodate a range of set ups (proscenium to promenade) and hold between 50 and 500 people. We embrace the idea of transforming the whole venue: This might include theming the auditorium, which can extend to the bar, staff, catering, etc! Bringing the audience into the world of the performance. Examples include April's Moby Dick, where the whole of the Bierkeller was transformed into the deck and hold of Captain Ahab's ship, and then quite literally the belly of the beast! Similarly, The Reveneger's Tragedy in May saw the Bierkeller become a seedy nightclub hosting a corrupt Italian-type political Bunga Bunga party. Other companies have opted to make use of our large stage, creating a more traditional perfomance space and making full use of a our comprehensive lighting rig. We invite all companies, of all sizes and experience to contact us to discuss possible productions. We welcome completed productions/transfers or new productions who might want to prepare in our available rehearsal space. The theatre provides sound/lighting equipment, changing facilities, bar, box office (manned 9:30-22:30 Monday to Sunday), and a back stage area. We aim to keep ticket prices low, primarily available under £10 if booked in advance. During the runs we aim to offer generous discounts to schools and large groups.
