Theatre Bristol, The Fire Station, York Road
South West
theatre development, producing, new work, strategy

Theatre Bristol is a collective of producers. We believe that anything is possible. We follow our curiosity, individually and collectively, to work for the benefit of artists to make great art.

Theatre Bristol’s role is to work with the theatre community and others to create the best conditions for excellent live performance to be made and experienced in Bristol.

Our role is to encourage, stimulate and support multiplicity and dialogue, sustainability and independent strength, artistic brilliance and managerial robustness, collaboration and cross-fertilisation. We believe that when you share stuff, everyone gets better.

Theatre Bristol understands “theatre” in the broadest possible terms: from circus to live art, from dance to script-based play, and everything in between.

This section explains a bit about how we do this. If you’re interested in finding out more about the organisation you can download our Business Plan for 2012 – 2015. If you do feel impelled to read it, then we’d love to hear your thoughts

Key Projects

Artist and Producer Support

The Artist Support Programme is an open programme for artists and other arts professionals based in Bristol or making work in Bristol. If you're not sure whether it's right for you, have a read of our Frequently Asked Questions for more information.

To you... to me

Theatre Bristol thought it would be a really good idea if we created a regular space where people interested in theatre in Bristol can come together to discuss what they're up to, we can say what we're up to, and we can all discuss what we’re not up to but think we ought to be. We call these meetings To You to Me, and we hold them twice a year at various venues around the city. The meetings are free to anyone who wants to come and are a great way of meeting new people and catching up with friends & colleagues in a welcoming and friendly environment.

Writers in Residence

Writers in residence is a project designed to push forward the more interesting, intelligent and passion-driven writing around theatre in the city. We sent out a callout for writers to help tell the story of what's happening in Bristol and have since had the pleasure of working with some excellent writers; a number of whom have come from outside Bristol, and many of whom came from non-theatre backgrounds.
