Martin Sherman’s acclaimed play Rose tells a remarkable and sometimes harrowing tale of endurance, tolerance and spirit through its protagonist.
Rose is a survivor. Her remarkable life began in a tiny Russian village, took her to Warsaw’s ghettos and, via a ship called The Exodus, to the boardwalks of Atlantic City, the Arizona canyons and salsa-flavoured nights in Miami Beach.
Red Kettle is one of Ireland’s foremost theatre companies, with a mission to create vital, vigorous and exciting theatre, including the recently successful world première of Edna O’ Brien’s The Country Girls. Starring Fiona York and directed by Ben Hennessy, this play is a sharply drawn portrait of a feisty Jewish woman and a moving reminder of the events that shaped the last century.
“Cannot fail to move you... Martin Sherman’s spectacularly well written play... Fiona York acts brilliantly... the moving stories told to the audience bring a tear to your eye and a smile to your lip” Unlimited / Three Weeks Edinburgh
“Fiona York... is outstanding in a compelling production... Rose received a rapturous reception and standing ovations... the audience was spell-bound” Irish Examiner
“Rose is a tour de force and should be seen... Fiona York performs with surgical precision and exceptional brilliance” Evening Echo
