It’s back! On Friday 20th April 2018 Circomedia will be hosting Testing Ground: Experiments in Dance, a performance platform for dance work.
This is an open call to dance artists and companies, emerging or established, to test new performance ideas in front of a live audience. We are looking for up to 5 pieces of dance/dance theatre work that are between 5 and 15 minutes in duration. Whatever stage of development your work is at, we are interested to hear from you.
We aim for the platform to be highly supportive and nurturing for the artists involved, and interactive opportunity for audiences, offering them an insight into new work. We endeavour to bring together an interested and relevant audience in order to open up a genuine dialogue that will help develop the work further. All performers will have the opportunity to receive feedback on their work through a question and answer session with the audience.
Previous artists have included: Impermanence Dance Theatre, Trash Dollys, Vanhulle Dance Theatre and Laurence Cooke.
The focus of this Testing Ground is dialogue and experiment. It is a platform to present the beginnings and possibilities of work and to share that through dialogue with the audience! Therefore there will be no lighting specials, no riders and no early get-in. Testing Ground is just that – not a showcase event.
We are not able to offer a fee or expenses.
The deadline for submission is 12th March, 10am.
If you have any queries, or require an application form in an alternative format, please contact [email protected] or on 0117 373 0873.
Testing Ground is presented in partnership with Theatre Bristol, Circomedia and BathDance, supported by Laila Diallo.
