Throwaway fashion no more! Come and learn how to fix holes in fabric the Japanese way with this ‘visible mending’ method.
Repairing is an act of rebellion.
WE WILL GIVE 15% OF PROFITS TO EXTINCTION REBELLION.
We will learn how to mend holes, and signs of wear and tear with love and affection.
It is a simple process that can be done by hand, and with practise makes beautiful results. Once complete you have made a piece of ‘Boro’ and a newfound love for your old clothes.
WHAT WE PROVIDE:
Fabrics, needles and thread will be provided.
Extra special hand-dyed and shibori fabrics will be available at extra cost.
WHAT TO BRING:
Please bring along something that you want to fix, a small sewing kit and some big scissors.
If you have some scraps of fabric you really love and want to use bring these too.
WHO ARE WE?
Oxidate Design was founded by Rhyannan in 2018, because she loves textiles and dyeing fabric.
She also hate wasting things, and love wabi-sabi: the beauty of imperfection.
BRISTOL BORO SOCIETY is a group set up to help fight the forces of the fast fashion industry.
Care for your clothes and care for our planet.
