Led by Les Bubb
“Not where you take things from but where you take them to” Jean Luc Goddard
Les Bubb is the master of mime with more than 35 years experience. He trained at the Desmond Jones school of mime in London, and in Paris with Phillipe Gaulier (Le Coq) and Etienne Decroux. Les combines physical mime with clowning, acting, singing and movement, and performs all over the world in theatres, festivals, TV and film.
This weekend is for adults, complete beginners and improvers. The workshop deals with the technique of creating illusions through the physical application of mime. It’s an investigation into the technical content – the precision and humour of mime. We will explore how physical mime can create magical illusions, including:
- how to ‘move effort’ through your body in 3D
- fixed point technique
- contacting surfaces: different walks, pushing, lifting, walls, doors, windows
- accurate timing and weight transference
- using props to create ‘impossible’ images
With the magic of mime, we will conjure the comic and the ridiculous, there will be lots of laughing!
This mime workshop is a ‘taster-session’ with the opportunity to participate in further week long workshops throughout the summer for those interested in the pursuit of perfecting their techniques in physical mime.
