International Physical Theatre Workshop and IUGTE Conference
December 12 – 20, 2019
The workshop is open to performers from different backgrounds, creative genres and techniques inspired by physical theatre as a bold, vibrant and multidimensional approach to contemporary theatre performance. The program is designed for experienced actors, dancers, physical performers, contemporary circus performers, choreographers and directors – performing arts practitioners with professional stage experience working in various genres, techniques and styles – interested in expanding their international network opportunities and collaborators.
OSTRENKO WORKSHOP PROGRAMME
The workshop programme is focused on Ostrenko’s method of actor’s training,
relying on the Russian Theatre Tradition, as well as the newest experiments in performing arts. Performer’s physicality
in the methods of K. Stanislavsky, M.Chekhov,Meyerhold’s Biomechanics
, Tai-chi for performers, training by method of improvisation
, scene composition from an exercise to a performance.
These are some of the elements uniquely transformed and combined in Ostrenko’s teaching system to suit the needs of contemporary performers, directors and teachers.
Participants will practically explore performer’s physicality as the principal creative instrument, the key to form and style an atmosphere and emotional palette in contemporary performance, stepping beyond the limits of normative text-based acting.
Practical sessions develop in the form of various exercises which progress from simple to compound. The group gradually proceeds to group improvisations and structures. Every day sets a spectrum of advanced creative tasks, developing the preceding steps. Through the system of consecutive exercises, the group establishes a common language and trust, an ability to collaborate and create together.
Participation fee is 450 EUR (early bird reduced fee) / 550 EUR.
The fee covers participation in all events of the programme – practical training, lectures and discussions with S. Ostrenko and the full conference program.
