 The Chai For All Ensemble

The Chai For All Ensemble bring you the final performance of their Arts Council England supported UK tour of ‘Longing, Belonging & Balfour’ and are delighted to work with acclaimed all-female Arab-Dabke dance group Hawiyya tonight.

Hawiyya explore identity, culture and resistance through dance. The culturally diverse dancers from all over have come together to unite and share their commitment to the Palestinian cause. They draw upon traditional folkloric Arab-Dabke with a twist of contemporary dance through their skills and experiences in other dance forms, narratives and musical influences.

Longing, Belonging & Balfour is an evocative 1 hour 15 minute music and spoken word concert devised by the Chai For All Ensemble, marking the centenary of the 1917 Balfour Declaration that led to the creation of the State of Israel, the Palestinians’ loss of their homeland and the unleashing of one of the bitterest conflicts of modern times. Weaving together Jewish, Palestinian and British stories, this is a riveting study of the complexities of history.

Compelling history; captivating music; exquisite songs; vibrant storytelling; devastating stories.

Audience-led sharing of their stories after the performance is an integral part of the event.

Tickets £12/£10 concessions (unemployed, students) through bristol ticket shop or £13/£11 on door.
