This course is about cultivating a fundamental shift in how we relate to our experience and live our lives. It’s a shift that is subtle, powerful, challenging and, at the same time, deeply rewarding. It’s a shift that generates more spaciousness in our lives, fosters deeper connection with self and others, and helps us to tap more effectively into our inherent intelligence and wisdom.
This shift is brought about by cultivating our capacity for non-judgemental moment-to-moment awareness and welcoming the full glory and catastrophe that is our life with presence – and by doing so, fully inhabiting our moments of choice. Doing so literally rewires our brains and changes how we relate to experience, opens up choice, brings more calm and clarity into our lives and makes us far more resilient.
This 8-week introduction to mindfulness is based on Jon Kabat Zinn’s mindfulness-based stress reduction programme (MBSR), which has already helped millions of people to lead more empowered lives.
The course is both challenging and life-affirming, highly supportive and participatory. It includes:
8 weekly 2½ hour group sessions
Guided meditation practices
Group work and discussion
One of its key elements is that participants are encouraged to practice at home for around 20 minutes a day during the eight-week programme.
