Missing Pieces is a series of script in hand performances/ rehearsed readings showcasing Black plays, classic & contemporary. Back by popular demand with a special jam packed week of three of our most popular plays.
We kick off the week with Theresa ikon’s ‘Girls’– three girls best friends forever but when they’re kidnapped from home the only hashtag that matters is survival. Girls explores the stores behind the Boko Haram headlines that quickly became yesterdays news.
We then head to ‘Elmina’s Kitchen’ by Kwame Kwei Armah. Set in a Caribbean diner on hackneys murder mile. Deli, the owner tries to keep his teenage son away from the temptations of gang culture.
We then finish off the week with the stunning ‘Crowning glory’ by Somalia Seaton. Crowning glory explores the ways in which ideals of western beauty affect black women. Be prepared to laugh cry and be uncomfortable.
