Stage Combat in Context

A one-day workshop for age 12 – 18 years where students will learn stage fighting techniques including hand to hand combat and the use of swords in performance. Students will learn how to safely choreograph a fight scene within the context of various Shakespeare plays. The day will culminate in a short performance for parents to enjoy.
Bristol Academy of Drama are delighted to be working with Neil Johnson, a professional stage combat teacher who has had a varied career as a professional actor in Theatre, TV and Film. In addition he has performed stunts and fights at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden and other professional companies. As well as leading drama courses and combat workshops in the UK and abroad, Neil is currently working as Head of Performing Arts in Somerset.
