Riddlestick Theatre return to The Room Above this month for a one-off preview of their Edinburgh Fringe show The Cabinet of Madame Fanny Du Thé followed by a post-show quiz.

Tales of woe, tales of science, tales of curses, tales of defiance. Also, some juggling. Reach into Fanny’s cabinet for a musical voyage of hilarity. But beware! Somebody’s out to sink her ship. Riddlestick Theatre are dedicated to tickling fancies with weird and wonderful stories and enchanting live music. Roll up your sleeves and choose the tales we tell in this riotous celebration of curiosity and imagination. ‘The cast are talented, the music is jolly, and the story is an imaginative blend of canny and daft’ ★★★★ – (Epigram Arts for The Dead of Night in the Middle of Nowhere).

Bristol-based company Riddlestick Theatre play with past and present, fiddle with fact and fiction, and toy with traditional forms of tale-telling. They aim to make audiences laugh and think and tap their toes with their rambunctious and inventive shows.

Previous preview performances at The Room Above, Bristol, and Brainchild Festival proved a roaring success with audiences, and the company are developing the show to make it roar even louder at Edinburgh Festival Fringe. This is Riddlestick Theatre’s second show. Their debut, The Dead of Night in the Middle of Nowhere, toured festivals and theatres during 2016-17.

The show will be followed by a unique quiz, ‘Riddlestick’s Riddlequiz’ which will be full to the brim with jokes, music and a curious concoction of questions that, if answered correctly, could win you some sort of prize (at least one of which we can confirm is a globe-shaped pencil sharpener).

The Cabinet of Madame Fanny Du Thé is on at The Room Above, Bristol on Monday 30th July at 7:30pm. Tickets cost £5 and can be purchased online at  www.theroomabove.com/whats-on/riddlestick-theatre or on the door. The company are raising money to fund their Edinburgh Fringe show and ticket sales will go towards this.
