Theatre Bristol, in partnership with KIOTA
, is supporting Bristol-based freelancer Deepraj Singh to be part of a new National Task Force. This call out is in direct response to a pledge from more than 100 arts organisations across the UK to each support one individual to sit on this Task Force
Theatre Bristol is committed to increasing equity in theatre. We are working with KIOTA, a collective of POC creatives, who are dedicated to decolonising theatre spaces in Bristol. KIOTA reached out to their network to find someone who would have the capacity, commitment and capability to take part and share the learning back to both our organisations.
We commit to both supporting Deepraj Singh, and implementing the learning within our organisation and as part of the wider network. We’ll share information about the learning and action as it develops.
THE AIM OF THE TASK FORCE IS TO
- Create ongoing points of connection between independent creatives, organisations, funders and government
- Amplify the voices of the self-employed in urgent conversations about the survival and future of UK theatre and performance
- Commit the sector to long-term meaningful change and better representation
