We are looking for a female identifying actor-musician with excellent guitar playing skills and has ability to multi-role confidently. You should be based in the South West (auditions & rehearsals taking place in Exeter).
GREAT TRAIN ROBBERY
In the early hours of Thursday 8th August 1963, the heist of the century is under way. Signals are scrambled, phone lines cut and millions of pounds of cash – stolen. Five days later the first clues are found, the gang is busted and the rest is history.
But what about the ones that got away?
Join the four forgotten females as they leave behind their kitchen-sink lives and embark on a madcap adventure of mischief and mayhem. Using a raucous combination of physical theatre, live music and clowning, Scratchworks will unfold the untold tale of the unlikely female four
We are looking for an actor to join the cast in this multi-roling show. Characters are comedic & very contrasting.
‘You’ is the nickname she’s been given by the cleaning gang. ‘You’ is a 1960s housewife, who has decided to take up a cleaning job. This is her first job and she is enthusiastic about getting stuck in and getting her hands dirty (although apprehensive at first). She is shy, risk-averse, but very intelligent (and not particularly aware of just how intelligent she is!) Throughout the narrative she finds her confidence and her voice, as she leads the gang out of many sticky situations.
Eagle is captain of the ‘Flying Squad’ – the police team put in charge of leading the investigation on the Great Train Robbery. Eagle is the eldest and most experienced officer & has a strong hint of the classic ‘Sergeant Major’ about him..
Both these characters interact with the audience so improvisation skills are necessary
Other characters include a male robber & an ageing member of the W.I
**Please note that this role was originally developed by a previous cast member. Whilst these are existing characters, you will have the freedom to make it your own**
- Very confident multi-roling actor, able to clearly define two detailed, pivotal characters in the plot and switch between them effectively
Good sense of comedy and improvisation skills
Very confident guitar playing skills
Movement skills (including ensemble movement)
Experience making devised theatre
Can sing confidently
**As this is a remount of a current show, we will have a short period of time to re-rehearse the show. Please ensure you are comfortable with picking up movement and choreography quickly**
You must be available to audition on Friday 1st November in Exeter (exact times & location TBC). Auditions will include a group workshop in the morning & an individual audition slot after lunch.
