PQA, the new generation of weekend Performing Arts Academies set up by actress, Pauline Quirke, are currently recruiting a dynamic, Comedy and Drama Teacher in Weston-super-Mare.
Brilliant, inspirational and energetic, your in-depth knowledge of theatre-making and performance will ignite passion in the hearts and minds of the young people who attend our Academy.
You will create and plan fun, engaging and educational lessons, enabling our students to experience everything from text work through to ensemble devising and beyond! You will direct shows, lead students through their Trinity Exams and offer insight into a whole range of theatrical styles and performance techniques.
You will be collaborating with the Musical Theatre Teacher and Film & TV Teacher to shape and hone student’s performance skills ready for performance.
You must be organised, hard-working, a team-player, committed to the arts and education, fun, full of energy, have great communication skills and the ability to use your initiative.
Ultimately, we are looking for a versatile practitioner; a drama facilitator, director, theatre-maker and/or actor.
The ideal candidate will have:
-At least one year of professional experience within the performing arts industry, experience as a theatre-maker is desirable
-At least one year of experience working with children and young people, aged 6-18 years
-Professional training; a degree or equivalent, although applicants with other relevant experience will be considered
The candidate must have a willingness to complete relevant training and a current DBS check will be required.
The chosen candidate will be required to work Saturdays (9:30am – 1pm) during term time.
