Job Description

The role of the Events Manager is to ensure the effective organisation, management and professional delivery of all cultural events at the venue, maximise income generating opportunities through cultural activity venue hire, and work with the Operations Officer to ensure the venue is maintained to the appropriate standard for live events. They support and develop relationships with artists and groups that work with us to ensure events are consistently delivered to the highest standard.  The Events Manager also manages and co-ordinates a team of volunteer stewards and casual events staff that support the venue’s events programme. This role reports directly to the Operations Director.





  • Advance, deliver and settle all cultural events taking place in the venue including contracting, invoice processing, financial settlements and event production requirements.
  • Operate the Sound, Lighting and Visual systems where necessary
  • Manage the set-up of the venue for events
  • Liaise with Box Office, Café and Bar staff to ensure all teams are briefed and prepared for upcoming events
  • Deal with venue hire enquiries
  • Observe and deliver a selection of concerts each season
  • Manage the duty event team



  • Work with the part time Volunteer Co-ordinator to manage the team of volunteer stewards, ensuring databases are kept up to date, and season rota is prepared and distributed
  • Coordinate and lead training for volunteer stewards



  • Work with the Operations Officer to ensure the venue is maintained to appropriate standard for live events
  • Work with the Commercial Events Manager to ensure all events delivered in the venue are of a high quality customer service standard and generate maximum potential income for the organisation
  • Ensure all H&S requirements are being met and maintained by duty events staff in accordance with procedures
  • Support the Operations Director and carry out any other duties as required by the CEO and the organisation

Knowledge Microsoft Office Programmes, PA, Lighting and Visual Equipment
Skills and abilities Methodical, accurate and able to work under pressure and prioritize effectively
An efficient organizer

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
High level of accuracy for data entry
Personal qualities Enthusiastic, organized, reliable and proactive approach to work
Friendly manner and ability to work with a wide range of people
Interest in and understanding of the music industry
Ability to take on a management and leadership role
Ability to work as part of a close-knit team
Willing to be flexible in working hours



Salary                       £20,000 – £22,000 per annum, depending on experience

Holidays                  25 days/year plus all statutory Bank Holidays

Working hours        09.00-17.30 (with an hour for lunch) Monday to Friday
