Bristol Old Vic’s £2.4m Heritage Lottery Fund award has allowed a fantastic refurbishment of the historic Coopers’ Hall, enabled the reveal of the original 1766 theatre façade, and ensured that the Thunder Run, a rare 18th century instrument is both accessible to the public and fit for future use.
Following a substantial programme of conservation, cataloguing and digitisation of the theatre’s archives, which are held between the University of Bristol Theatre Collection and Bristol Archives, and the installation of new heritage interpretation and interactive exhibitions at the theatre, we are now in a position to tell the Theatre’s story to new audiences in new and exciting ways.
With a wide-reaching programme of tours and activities, Bristol Old Vic already recognised as a centre for artistic excellence will also become an internationally significant heritage destination, attracting audiences from Bristol and beyond.
At this exciting time, we are recruiting for the post of Heritage Engagement Manager to lead on, and deliver the Activity Plan for the Project, and to play a key role in embedding heritage across the organisation.
The Heritage Engagement Manager will report directly to the Engagement Director and will be responsible for a small team of freelance staff and volunteers.
This post is funded for a fixed term of 18 months (April 2019 – Sept 2020).
