Musical Director

Salary: GBP £45/session

Application Deadline: October 15, 2018 8:00 am

Company: Minis' Theatre Club

Job Details

Minis’ Theatre Club is a thriving musical theatre club based in Bristol for children aged 9 to 14 years.  We are currently seeking a new Musical Director for the club from January 2019, or earlier.  The job involves working closely with the Director and Choreographer to produce our main show in July and our ‘show case’ in December.

We have around 35 children in the club and meet every Friday from 5.45pm to 8pm during term time, with extra Sunday rehearsals leading up to the July show.  The club is run by a parent collective that is highly involved in Minis’ Theatre Club and who work together to enable the club to succeed.

The Musical Director’s role includes musical creation and direction of the shows, management of the singing and musical parts of the shows.  The Musical Director also helps plan the rehearsal schedule with the Choreographer and Director.

We are seeking a Musical Director who is enthusiastic, creative, organised and who has worked in a  similar role with children in the past.  The successful candidate will be capable of working with a wide range of children who hold varying degrees of experience in singing, acting and dancing.  We often use a live band for our Summer Shows so experience of sourcing, directing, leading and coordinating a band is required.  The ability to communicate well and make effective decision is essential.

Given the nature of this role it is necessary that the applicants have a current enhanced DBS check.  The shortlisted candidates will be asked to attend an interview and undertake a workshop with the children.

If you are interested, please apply by email to Sarah Davies, Chair, Minis’ Theatre Club by 15th October 2018.
