Tall Tree Theatre are delivering a 3 hand rural touring show this autumn and are looking for a flexible and creative technician/stage manager to join the tour. Please note, we are looking for applicants with a South-West base as accommodation for local shows is not covered.

Tall Tree are Associate Artist at Forest Forge Theatre Company and work alongside Odstock Day Nursery and Longford Primary School to create exceptional work for young audiences.

About Lily & the Albatross

Lily & the Albatross is a 3 hand 50 minute show for ages 5+. Written by Anna Harriott (Tall Tree Creative Director) and Directed by Lucy Phillips of Forest Forge Theatre. It’s full of puppetry and live music.

The story: Far out in the wild and remote ocean is a small family on an old fishing boat. When the whipping wind threatens their little world, the family must pull together, take a leap of faith and look beyond what they have always known to get themselves and the great old boat moving again.

Our dream technician

The show is built for rural touring and so please only apply if you are experienced in and happy with the nature of this work ie; get ins/outs, use of lighting stands, wiring up in unusual locations and working with what is presented to us in each space. We hire our touring kit from Forest Forge Theatre and use a small Jester board, lighting stands, par cans, on stage LEDs and some lighting within the set.

We’re looking for someone to set up and run the show during the last week of rehearsals (including having creative input in how the show is lit) and then tour with, set up and run the show – including all lighting and sound ques. The show will run off a company MAC, using q-lab. Please note rehearsals are at Forest Forge Theatre in Ringwood.

The show dates are as follows: 

September:

17th Meeting re lighting design and concept. 20th Tech design/build and rehearsals, 21st Rehearsal and preview to Youth Theatre at Forest Forge, 22nd The Pound, Corsham, 24th School show.

October:

3rd School show, 5th School show, 6th Everyman, Cheltenham (2 shows), 7th Theatre Shop, Clevedon, 16th Travel day to Scotland, 17th-20th 1 x show a day, 21st Travel day to come home, 23rd Artsreach show, 24th Artsreach show, 25th Forest Arts New Milton (2 shows), 26th Bemerton Heath Community Centre through Wiltshire Creative, 27th Marine Theatre, 28th Tidworth Family Festival. Dates still TBC: 1 x filming day & 1 x school show

The numbers bit

We’re offering a total fee of £2,000 to include all of the above dates. Please note the technician should be available for all dates with no exception.

The fee includes any accommodation and travel costs, with the exception of one week in Ayrshire (where the cast and crew will have all accommodation and travel covered and receive per diems for the days away.)  We will tour in the company van, which is based in Salisbury.
