Afrika Eye – Dance workshop with Rachael Nanyonjo

‘Amazina’ Film followed by Q & A and participatory dance workshop ‘What Happens When’ with Rachael Nanyonjo.

Afrika Eye is delighted to welcome Rachael Nanyonjo for an evening of film, conversation and dance. We will be screening Rachael’s recently made film ‘Amazina’ documenting her visit to Uganda in 2015-2016 plus Q & A. Rachael will then lead a participatory dance workshop introducing her distinctive style of contemporary dance and creative expression.

‘Amazina’ is a compelling film exploring the transforming identity of dance in Uganda, looking at dance forms, politics and the disavowal of culture. Made by Rachael who was a Trailblazer Fellow 2015 – 16. Supported by the British Council and Arts Council of England.

The Workshop ‘What Happens When’

Rachael invites you to view the film and then join her for a dance workshop introducing a new dance vocabulary influenced by traditional Ugandan forms. Working with contemporary techniques alongside East Africa Afro-House sounds, Rachael encourages you to discover a new creativity.

(Recommended for young people and adults who love to dance)
