There are two BFI Film Academies in Bristol: Documentary making at Watershed and Drama filmmaking at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School’s Film and TV studio.
Courses run one evening per week and some weekends, in term time, December 2019 to April 2020.
Participants gain: skills, networks, support, knowledge and the confidence to move forward working in creative media, as well as having fun, meeting great people, taking a role in the production process and seeing their ideas from script to screen.
We take on young people to be part of a crew and learn about the range of careers in the Screen Industries. We are particularly interested in widening access to careers in media: no previous filmmaking experience is needed and there is no need to write loads on the form as long as students express why they would like to take part. Courses cost only a £25 nominal fee which can be waived if the participant is unable to cover it, we can also support with bursaries for travel and access costs.
