On Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd July, Made By Katie Green – a dance company specialising in making work for heritage sites – are bringing their most recent promenade work for caves and underground spaces, Beneath Our Feet, to Bristol Harbour Festival and to the Redcliffe Caves.
On Saturday 21st July from 10-1pm, we will be offering professional dance artists the opportunity to join the company for a workshop exploring site specific practice and the process of responding choreographically to underground spaces.
This workshop will take place on-site at the Redcliffe Caves. A series of man-made tunnels beneath the Redcliffe area of Bristol, originally dug to provide sand for glass-making and pottery production, the ‘Caves’ are not usually open to the public. A site with a multitude of stories, of trading and prisoners, hermits and hauntings for example, don’t miss this rare opportunity to access the space.
The workshop will include:
- Warm-up and introduction of ideas on-site 10-11am
- Choreographic exploration from 11-1pm, looking at some of the themes and ideas from Beneath Our Feet and supporting participants’ exploration of their own ideas (including playing with use of sound and different light sources)
“Had an amazing and very enjoyable weekend working with Katie Green – some very useful tasks and techniques to creating work that I will definitely be using in the future to help me create new and interesting material” (Feedback from previous professional development workshop participant)
