Experimental scratch night for alternative performers

Cost: Free

Organiser: Utter Rot And Poppycock

Performers wanted! Inspired by Edinburgh? Have you ever had a bat shit crazy idea for a performance piece that’s part play, part stand up, part dance, part town hall crier? We want your 3-10 minute unusual acts for absurdist cabaret night Utter Rot & Poppycock on Thursday 12th September at the Bristol Improv Theatre. This is an experimental playground in a supportive environment, for you to try out something that has you excited. We’re specifically looking for eccentric ideas that you wouldn’t see at your average open mic — whether that’s a mix of music, sketch, improv, dance, puppetry, poetry, storytelling, character pieces or something we haven’t thought of. Did we mention that we love costumes?

Get in touch as soon as you have an idea, no matter how rough. If you’re unsure or only have an inkling of what you want to do, please get in touch and we will help guide you to your strangest heart’s desire. If you’re thinking “I’d love to do this but i’m not good enough”, then you should apply.
What’s in it for you? We are currently a donations event. With so many acts it doesn’t make sense to give each act a cut (which would be a couple of quid), so instead we are endeavouring to have the night filmed so that you can have a video of your set in return.
Failure is your friend.
Interested in performing? Email us with your proposed idea by 26th August, at [email protected].
