New International Encounter (NIE) and Tobacco Factory Theatres are looking for future collaborators for projects.
We are particularly interested to meet more artists from diverse backgrounds.
Free, open access opportunity to work with co-Artistic Director Alex Byrne of NIE during the festive run of Snow White at Tobacco Factory Theatres in Bristol.
Alex will lead a workshop introducing NIE’s approach to tragic / comic / magical / musical / devised theatre. We will work with improvisation, play and the connection of live music with performance.
This workshop explores the physical preparation of the body for performance through work on pure and expressive movement, and the playfulness of the actors in performance through games and group work.
Artists who play will be invited to bring their instrument as we will work with music as a key and spur for improvisation using musicality and rhythm as tools in performance.
We love to work with artists who:
Are from a variety of places / countries / traditions
Speak different languages
Are interested in devising and being part of making our work
Are intelligent and inspiring
Are interested in making work for children and families
Are great fun to work with and are playful
Have just finished training
Have loads of experience
This workshop is for over 20’s !
Please bring comfortable clothing and a bottle of water.
To reserve your place please send your CV to firstname.lastname@example.org by the 13 January. The workshop is offered free of charge – made possible by the support of Tobacco Factory Theatres and NIE.
NIE works with an established ensemble, we have worked with some artist for nearly 20 years! For each project we like to work with a mixture of old friends and collaborators and artists who are new to the company.
