WHAT IS IT?
This course is divided in two different and complementary stages. There is the option of doing the complete course -Stage1 + Stage2- or only doing Stage1. It is not possible to do Stage2 without doing Stage1.
Stage 1- Meisner & Layton technique training: It consists of 4 sessions of 6 hours each where we will explore and work with the techniques of Meisner and his pupil William Layton, which can be applied to both, film and stage. Our main points of focus will be:

Stage 2 – How to apply the technique on scene work: It continuous with another 4 sessions of 6 hours each where we will apply the technique through improvisations and scene work.
Our main points of focus will be:
The technique and course’s aim is to give the actors the tools to live truthfully under an imaginary situation, working through your own intuition, imagination and impulses.
During this two months we’ll use the technique from the starting point of the acting training to then learn to apply it while we are working on a scene.
The foundations of this course are passion, respect, empathy and hard work.
WHERE & WHEN?
Stage 1 – Saturdays 16th + 23rd of February & 2nd + 9th of March
Stage 2 – Saturdays 16th + 23rd + 30th of March & 6th of April
Each session will start at 9.45 am and will finish at 16.00 pm.

WHO IS IT FOR?
This course is design for actors at any stage of their careers and for acting students with experience in any acting technique looking for intensive and challenging training. You just need to be willing to explore human behavior and to take risks.
Raquel Grela started her training as an actress at the Laboratorio de Teatro William Layton in Madrid. Since then, she has never stop training in different techniques including Meisner, Stanislavsky, Uta Hagen, Lecoq, Grotowski and Viewpoints. She has worked as a professional actress on stage and screen, facilitated training workshops and most recently directed the stage production ‘The Coal Train’ at the Tristan Bates Theatre in London. This experience has create the desire of making this course to work more often as a guide for actors. Through the Intensive Acting Laboratory courses, she considers that she can offer an intense and different way of training for actors that is lacking in the city of Bristol. She is passionate about supporting actors in their search for their own intuition as way of improving and grounding their truthful and unique performances.
-Stage1 + Stage2 – Total fee = £390 with the option of an Early Bird fee of £365 if you book before the 31st of January. The payment can be done up front or in installments of 8 payments of £38.75 / £35.6 with a deposit of £80 (part of the total amount) by the 10th of February to guarantee your place. Places are limited to 8.
-Stage1 – Fee = £220. The payment can be done up front or in installments of 4 payments of £35 with a deposit of £80 (part of the total amount) by the 10th of February to guarantee your place.
