MOVEMENT AND VOICE WORKSHOP
Movement director Viola Bruni
Hosted by Sci-Fi Choir, Bristol
Join us for a day of movement and vocal exploration that is out of this world!
Our aim is to unlock the alien characters that lie within us as performers and singers and to work together to produce new sci- fi composition through the course of the workshop. In the morning we will find our individual alien character and play with movement to unlock unique voices. In the afternoon we will play with different interactions between characters and compositional possibilities, aiming to create a chorus ensemble that looks and sounds like nothing you have seen before!
The Sci Fi Choir
is a collective of artists, poets, musicians who love all things alien. We use collective singing as a means to explore the sounds which we identify as sci-fi, with an emphasis on discordance and the eerie– whilst also looking at personal stories and testimonies of alien contact throughout the ages.
We produce immersive soundscapes for our live shows, and have performed at The Arnolfini, Experimentica (at Chapter Arts Centre) and GreenMan festival, with new shows planned for 2019.
We are keen to find new members and hope our new series of workshops will prove an opportunity for new singers to join us on our intergalactic sonic adventures.
Viola is a Movement Director graduated from royal central school of speech and drama in 2016, previously trained in contemporary dance and circus. She always had a passion for singing and dancing, started at early age with learning southern italian folk songs and dances from her mother, and continued with taking opera and modern singing classes.. Viola is also movement director for the verbatim play Take Care by Ecoute Theatre and Creation and Movement Coach for Circus performers at Forgotten Circus School. More info at www.violabruni.com
