Organiser: The Richard Award

 The Richard Award

Bristol, the city of circus is hosting this award created in 2018 in honour of Richard Ward (1945-1999) founder of the UK’s first professional circus school in Bristol in 1986, which evolved as Circomedia in 1994.

Update: 1st August

A number of people have contacted us experiencing technical problems with the website.  We have also been blocked by Facebook which seems to think that the Richard Award does not meet their community standards – so our posts have not been reaching people.  In view of this we have decided to extend the application window to FRIDAY 23rd AUGUST to make sure everyone has enough time to complete their information.

If you have any problems, please email and our technical team will help you.

Applications are invited from individual and group acts who have completed all or part of their circus training / apprenticeship in Bristol in the last five years.

Panel members for the finalists include: Verena Cornwall (Circus Next) Jade Dunbar (Glastonbury Circus Tent) Billy Alwen (Cirque Bijou)

Deadline (midnight) FRIDAY 23rd AUGUST

A panel of circus industry professionals will shortlist seven acts from the applicants to perform at the Richard Award live final on 16th November 2019 at  circus venue. The show will be suitable for people of all ages.
