Eden’s Cave is a laboratory theatre company based in the south west. A cross-disciplinary training-based company, we are influenced by eastern European models of developing work over extended periods, cultivating deep enquiry in embodied and vocal practice.
Participants have the opportunity to research the relationship between form and freedom, inner life and outer expression, storytelling, vocal and physical training within an ensemble ethos. The training places emphasis on the principles of presence, truth, and the freedom and spontaneity of the body. Workshops are constructed around four essential pillars: Art as Vehicle of Transformation, Artist as Researcher, Mutualism and Deep Listening. Research into these central pillars has created an intricate training process that we offer to actors and artists across the country.
Workshops are run by members of the company who bring individual approaches to vocal, physical and ensemble training. The company teach at institutions and drama schools across the UK and regularly run workshops in Bristol, Manchester and London.
Artistic Director Henry McGrath was an associate artist and principal performer at the multi-award-winning company, Song of the Goat theatre. His background in eastern European theatre practice and his own developed approach to actor-training has led him to work with practitioners internationally. Other members of the company have worked with Teatr Zar, Shared Experience, Theatre Re, Animikii Theatre and 1927.
