Offering workshops on disability access solutions and inclusivity staff training for the arts and leisure sectors
Until recently I was the Group Sales Manager and Access Officer at the Bristol Hippodrome theatre. I have now set up my own business: Access and Inclusivity Matters offering workshops on accessibility solutions and inclusivity training to the arts and leisure sector across the UK.
After 20+ years developing good accessibility practices at the Bristol Hippodrome, I gained a great deal of valuable knowledge and insight. We developed and introduced many access improvements and I delivered over 260 assisted performances.
I have always been a passionate advocate for access for all, and my aim is to provide venues with ideas for immediate everyday solutions, as well as advice and suggestions to develop over time. I know first-hand that venues put a lot of time and effort into developing new audiences, but this excellent work can be put at risk if provision isn’t also made to ensure facilities remain accessible for the changing requirements of some of our patrons, not least as they age.
