Common Wealth research, develop and devise political theatre that explores social issues.
Our work is a collaboration between the audience, the space, the visual, the written and the sonic creating a world for the audience to explore, challenge and debate.
We usually work in non-theatre spaces and so far have created site-specific work in an old zip factory, a marble courtroom and a disused medical operating theatre.
We choose to not work in theatre buildings because we want to reach people who wouldn’t necessarily go to the theatre.
We intend to create an environment which is part-theatre, part-gig, part-installation, part-feast and wholly an event, an environment which is thought-provoking and political and where having a good time is central to the experience.
