Dance Hub Bristol

Up until now there has been nowhere in Bristol that the city’s dancers (performers, teachers, choreographers) can call home. There is a considerable amount of exciting and hugely valuable work taking place behind the scenes, and we thought it was about time that this work was noticed, celebrated and given space to breathe and grow.

Following open discussion over the past few months, and feedback from Open Space events, we came to realise that what we, and Bristol for that matter, were really in need of was some sort of hub where the dancers in the city can connect on a regular basis. A place from which dance can really start to develop. We have called this the Dance Hub.

The Hub is a collective of professional independent dance artists and practitioners of diverse practices who have come together to create a home for dancers in Bristol.

Since February 2013, we have been based at The Island, Silver Street in Bristol. The collective shares a nice, large, light office space with desk space, a sofa, fairy lights, heaters, a kettle, an emerging library and WIFI – and we also have access to the DanceSpace Bristol studio when it is not otherwise booked.

Hub members receive discounted rental hire of The Island First Floor Studios too.

Recently we were awarded some Creative Seed Funding for our first Dance Hub open day, on Sunday 8th December 2013. We are really excited about the potential of supporting professional dance artists work and collaborations in Bristol.

We are looking for more members to join. Membership runs on a three month basis, costing just £55, plus £5 petty cash amount.
Membership will be given on a first come first serve basis.

Please email dancehubbristol@gmail.com stating whether you are either ‘Interested´ *with any questions you have, or ´Definite´in wanting to become a Hub Member.

Just imagine it… a space where we can all work at desks and in the studio where the dancers in the city can connect on a very regular basis. Somewhere we can all call home. A place from which dance can really start to grow.
