Dance South Gloucestershire

Dance South Gloucestershire (DSG) is a vibrant project managed by South Gloucestershire Council.

We are currently delivering the Strive Dance Project which is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England. Strive is a one year project with a focus on developing dance for young people. Strive will create dance opportunities through site specific projects as part of the Summer Reading Challenge in Libraries, and with youth groups across the area. It will also manage the Youth Dance Company and provide networking opportunities for those delivering dance in a youth context.

Dance South Gloucestershire: Youth Dance Company

The contemporary Youth Dance Company was re-launched in October 2013. The company has weekly regular training in contemporary dance and other dance styles, and collaborates with local dance artists and dance companies in workshops and intensives.

Strive: Site

Strive: Site is a programme of 4 site specific youth dance performances highlighting and unearthing community spaces and going to places dance has never been before.

The project will provide young people aged 13 to 19 years with the opportunity to develop a site specific performance with a professional choreographer to be showcased in their local community. Rehearsals start in January, with performances taking place in April 2014 – dance is coming to a community near you! Check out our Facebook page for project updates.
